2010 Mexico Holiday Calendar

16th September is celebrated as the Independence Day in Mexico. This day honors the anniversary of the beginning of Father Hidalgo’s revolt. Every year the celebration begins on 15th September, at 11 pm in Mexico

This Mexican Flag was officially adopted on 16 September 1968. 24th February is celebrated as Flag Day in Mexico, honoring the Mexican Flag. The Mexican Flag consists of three vertical stripes of green, white and red color. In the middle of the flag, on the white band there is the National Coat of Arms. The green is on the left side of the flag symbolizes independence, White is in the middle of the flag symbolizes religion and red is on the right side of the flag symbolizes union. The Coat of Arms features the Mexico eagle holding a snake in its mouth and perching on a cactus that has risen from a rock above a lake.

2010 Malaysia Holiday Calendar

On 31st August 1957, Malaysia gained its independence from British rule and became an independent nation. So every year Malaysia celebrates its National Day on 31st August.

The national flag of Malaysia also known as “Jalur Gemilang” was officially adopted on 16th September 1963.  The flag has fourteen horizontal stripes of red and white (seven red stripes and seven white stripes). There is a blue rectangle in the upper left corner with a yellow crescent and a yellow star with fourteen points. The red color symbolizes courage, White symbolizes purity, Blue represents the unity of the people. The yellow crescent and star symbolizes Islam religion of the nation. The fourteen stripes represent the federal government and a group of thirteen states and the yellow star symbolizes their unity.

2010 Holiday Calendar Singapore

On 9th August 1965, Singapore separated from the Federation of Malaysia and became an independent country. So every year Singapore celebrates its National Day on 9th August.

The Singapore Flag was officially adopted on 3rd December 1959. The flag consists of two equal horizontal sections of red and white color, red at the top and white in the bottom. . In the upper left section of the flag there is a white semi-circular moon and five white stars in a circle. The Red color symbolizes universal brotherhood and equality of man, White symbolizes the purity and virtue of the people. The semi-circular moon represents a young nation on the ascendant and the five stars represent the ideals of the nation – democracy, equality, justice, peace and progress.

2010 India Holiday Calendar

India has one of the ancient civilizations in the world. On 15th August 1947, India achieved her independence from British rule and became an independent nation. Every year 15th August is celebrated as Independence Day in India.

The Indian Flag, also known as “Triranga” was adopted on 22nd July, 1947, contains three horizontal equal strips of Saffron, White and Green colors. Saffron is at the top, White in the middle and Green at the bottom of the flag. In the centre of the white band, there is a wheel in navy blue color to indicate the “Dharma Chakra” or “Ashoka Chakra” having twenty four spokes. The orange color symbolizes courage and sacrifice, the white color symbolizes peace, unity and truth and the green color symbolizes fertility. The 24 spokes in wheel represent the 24 hours in a day.

2010 USA Holiday Calendar

The USA was discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492. On July 4, 1776 it claimed its independence from England by signing the declaration of independence and the democracy was born. 4th July is celebrated as Independence Day in USA.
The flag of the USA has thirteen horizontal stripes of red and white (seven red stripes and 6 white stripes). There is a blue rectangle in the upper corner with 50 white color stars arranged in nine horizontal rows. The 13 stripes represent the original 13 colonies and the 50 stars represent the 50 states of the country. The flag has 3 colors – Red, Blue and White. 2009 Islamic Calendar Festivals

Islam was founded in the 7th century by the Prophet Muhammad. Today this is the second largest religion in the world with more than 1.2 billion followers. The Quran is the sacred text of Islam.
The Five Pillars of Islam are:
             – Faith – “There is no God except Allah, Muhammad is the messenger of Allah”.
             – Prayer – Praying five times a day.
             – Donate – Each year, Muslims are supposed to donate a fixed proportion of their savings for good deeds.
             – Fasting – Fasting during the month of Ramadan.
